The residents of Den Burg celebrate their annual “Meierblis. ” A “Meierblis” is a bonfire that is lit on the evening of April 30th (or April 29th if April 30th falls on a Sunday). It marks the transition from the dark winter period to the summer, and it is celebrated as a joyous occasion.
