A Visual Story

Telling a story in pictures is one of the most fun street photography challenges. The idea is simple. Pick a person or a group of people and follow them around candidly while taking their pictures. If you’re lucky, you’ll have a collection of images that together tell a story.

Sounds easy, right? But it’s easier said than done. Taking a candid photo is one thing, but taking a whole collection of pictures of someone and following them around without raising suspicion is another. But that’s what makes it such fun to do.

As you can see in the photo story below, I followed a tourist couple on the market square in the city center of Rotterdam. I didn’t know what they were up to, but as it turned out, they were about to try a famous Dutch delicacy: stroopwafels!
